  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating

What to look for in a quote

  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show

  • How to care for the finish

Choosing a repair company

About our bath re-enamelling in Trewyddfa

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It’s ideal if you like your bathroom but not the state of the bath. Typical jobs include wear marks under the taps and a coloured bath you want in white, on cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you are not left on your own once we’ve gone.

What your bath is made of matters

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so resurfacing gives them a new life.

Work for landlords and builders

For anyone letting property in or around Trewyddfa, we will quote for several properties at once. Send photos for each one and we will price them together.

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Repairing versus replacing in Trewyddfa

There are times replacing is better: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. Otherwise, resurfacing generally wins. Prices start from £350. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. There’s no area surcharge for Trewyddfa. The price reflects:

  • The material
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How much damage there is
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

How to get a fixed quote

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • The material, if you know it
  • One picture of the whole bath

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

Trewyddfa: your questions answered

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Typically, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Mention it when you send pictures.

Is there any odour?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. Inside and out if you’d like.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Typically one day, with the bath ready the next day. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

What does bath re-enamelling cost?

Prices start from £350. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

The process

Once we are through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes a full day, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.

Before we arrive

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Ask for a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Advice

When we would advise against a repair

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.
