How we handle bath re-enamelling in Westhead
Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. Our technicians work on acrylic baths, Victorian roll-tops and basins & shower trays, and common reasons people contact us are a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean and wear marks under the taps.
You are covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Repairing versus replacing in Westhead
Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the entire room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Prices start from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.
Why us?
- One price list for the entire UK
- Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
- We leave the room as we found it
- Free fixed quotes from pictures

How the visit works
Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and start once you’re happy with the plan. It usually takes most of the day, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
- Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
- We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.
Preparing for the visit
- Let us know which floor the room is on
- Tell us about parking, stairs or access
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
How to get a price
Email us a picture of the damage and a wider shot of the entire item, with your L40 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.
Related advice
Should I try a DIY kit first?
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Pressed steel
Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

- Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
- A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
- Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber

What we are called out for in Westhead
Enamel wears gradually. Years of cleaning, hard water and hot baths dull the surface, generally first under the taps and around the waste.
Look out for these signs:
- An old resurfacing that is failing
- A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
- Worn patches where water runs and sits
- An outdated colour you’d like to change
What your quote should include
- Who turns up on the day
- Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
- How your room will be protected
- Whether the price covers travel
Aftercare tips
Simple care helps the repair last. We recommend:
- A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
- Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
- Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
- Get any chip repaired quickly
Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.
Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Westhead
Does re-enamelling smell?
Some odour is normal while we spray, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It clears as the finish cures.
How durable is a resurfaced bath?
Look after it and it lasts. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.
How long is the bath unusable?
Generally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.
Is a repair better than a new one?
Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.
What happens if you find more damage?
We will show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.
What happens next?
We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.
Is there any odour?
There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.
Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?
Most of the time. Tell us what was done before and we will plan for it.
