How we handle bath re-enamelling in Coatham
If your bath is sound but looks tired, resurfacing is normally the best value. It avoids removal, plumbing and re-tiling. Typical jobs include lots of chips and rust spots and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off, across pressed steel baths, cast iron baths and Victorian roll-tops.
Every job is backed for twelve months in Coatham and everywhere else. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Should you replace it?
Replacing a bath usually involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Resurfacing is one technician, normally in a day, and the bath can be used the day after. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
Why us?
- Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
- Colour mixed on the day to match
- Most jobs done in one visit
- Honest advice, even when it means no job
See our prices page or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.
The process
When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. The job normally takes most of the day. We clean up when we are done and let you know when you can use it again.
- First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
- The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
- The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
- We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
- Once cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready.
How to prepare
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Ensure the room can be ventilated

How to look after the repair
Nothing complicated is needed:
- Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately
- Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
- Avoid suction-cup mats
- Fix dripping taps quickly
Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, don’t use suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.
Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.
What we cannot put right
To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:
- Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
- A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through
- A bath that is rusted through
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.
Materials we work on in Coatham
- Acrylic baths
- Cast iron baths
- Victorian roll-tops
- Basins & shower trays
- Pressed steel baths
Can I fix it myself?
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.
A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.
For landlords and businesses
Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.
We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Coatham as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it typically costs far less than a refit.
Questions from Coatham
Can I add another job to the visit?
Of course, and it typically saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.
Can you do the outside of a roll-top?
Yes. Inside and out.
What information do you need?
Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.
Is there a guarantee?
Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.
Will it make a mess?
Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.
Do you come to Coatham?
Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Coatham and the rest of Redcar and Cleveland. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
Do you need to take the bath out?
No, it stays where it is. We work on the bath in place, with the room protected and ventilated.
Is repairing better than replacing?
Usually, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
What we are called out for in Coatham
A dull surface stains and holds dirt, and cleaning harder only makes it worse. That’s the point where re-enamelling makes sense.
If you can see any of these, send us a photo:
- Brown or grey marks that don’t clean off
- A coloured bath you want in white
- A roll-top that is seen better days

What affects the price in Coatham
Resurfacing from £350. You will know the full cost before booking. We take into account:
- How much damage there is
- The colour and finish to match
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- The material
A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
Quotes from your pictures
We price nearly every job from photos. This is what to send:
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
- What it’s made of, if you know
You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.
