Need bath re-enamelling in Hazeldon?

What we do, step by step

On the day, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job usually takes a full day. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Hazeldon

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. Common call-outs are for an outdated colour you’d like to change and a peeling or bubbling previous coating, in basins & shower trays, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths.

You’re covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Honest limits

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • A bath split right through the body
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Fix dripping taps quickly
  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Respect the curing time we give you

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, especially in hard water areas, and rinse off any bath products.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Hazeldon?

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and scrubbing it wears it down further. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.

Get in touch if you’ve noticed:

  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • Stains that will not shift
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough

What your quote should include

  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • Whether the price covers travel
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price

Our hiring checklist

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a bath normally involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Resurfacing is one technician, normally in a day, and the bath can be used the day after. Prices start from £350. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing usually costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Why book with us

  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Most jobs done in one visit

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are the classic candidate for re-enamelling. The body lasts for generations; only the enamel wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
