Bath re-enamelling near Pittulie

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Pittulie

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. Common call-outs are for an old resurfacing that’s failing and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping, across pressed steel baths, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths.

Every job is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

What a repair can’t fix

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths

Repairing versus replacing in Pittulie

When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, resurfacing is the simplest answer. Nothing else is disturbed. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Pittulie: your questions answered

How do I book?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Will the bath be moved?

No, it stays where it is. We work on the bath in place, with the room protected and ventilated.

Which areas do you work in?

We cover the entire UK, including Pittulie and the rest of Aberdeenshire. Just include your postcode and we will confirm dates.

Are there extra charges for Pittulie?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we have finished.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.

Landlord and trade work in Pittulie

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

The process

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Show us the job, point us to the room, and we will take it from there. Most visits take the best part of a day.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the following day.

How to prepare

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

How to get a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Advice

DIY kit or professional repair?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

When to call us in Pittulie

Enamel doesn’t fail overnight. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use wear the gloss away, starting where water runs and sits.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping
  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Wear marks under the taps

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • What prep work is covered
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • If travel is included in the price

How to look after the repair

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Have chips seen to early
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it

Dry the bath after use if possible, particularly with hard water, and rinse away any product left on the surface.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface.
